2015 is the year where we celebrate the 10 years of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS). In December 2015, the United Nations will hold a conference called a “High Level Event” to review the implementation of the WSIS and to shape a vision for its future.

For the past 10 years, governments, the private sector, civil society, academia and the Internet technical community have worked together at the local and the global levels to make the Internet a useful tool for economic and social development. Despite that, it seems the “WSIS+10 Review Process” will play mostly following intergovernmental rules, with only limited opportunities for other stakeholders to be involved.

We believe the WSIS+10 Review Process should involve all stakeholders!

Organizations and individuals concerned about this process  have signed on to two initiatives – both statements are open to more signatories!

Joint Statement on WSIS+10

In November 2015, signatories signed on to three key messages to the U.N.

Call For An Open WSIS+10 Preparatory Process

In May 2015, signatories sent a letter to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) calling upon the U.N. to open up the WSIS+10 review process.

The future of the Internet involves us all!  Please join us in calling for a WSIS+10 Review process that includes all stakeholders.

Thank you.
